Multi-Unit Management

We provide management services for limited service hotels, hotels with food and beverage, and extended stay hotels.

Our list of developed or managed hotels includes Intercontinental Hotels Group, Choice Hotels International, Hilton, Wyndham, and other independent brands.

Support Staff

Our office is located in Fargo, ND and has been in the same building for over 30 years. All operational, human resources, and accounting functions are operated from this office. We also have one operations vice president out in the field, who visits all of our managed hotels regularly and communicates with us regularly.

Accounting

We provide full support to companies under
contract for the accounting function.

Accounts Payable

Accounts payable is processed and paid weekly using a fully automated artificial intelligence invoice scanning, ERP entry, and payment system. All GL accounts are in compliance with the Uniform System of Accounts for the lodging industry.

General Ledger & Financial Statements

We prepare full monthly financial statements, including the balance sheet, statements of profit and loss, and cash flow statements. Every month Sonmar Management submits the details of the activity flowing through all P&L accounts to the hotel management. Also, our personnel review hotel performance with individual hotel management monthly. The focus of these meetings is regarding the previous month’s performance and also to forecast the upcoming 30-60-90 days.

Payroll

The Sonmar Management payroll function is shared with payroll professionals, at Fargo, ND. The payroll is processed semi-monthly. 1st to the15th payments must be paid on the 22nd or the previous day if the 22nd day falls on a weekend or holiday. The 16th EOM must be paid on the next 7th or previous day if the 7th falls on a weekend or holiday. Payrolls must be submitted to Sonmar Management within the given period. It is to allow for adequate time to turn around the completed payroll to the hotel related to the pay date. Sonmar Management uses electronic time cards and a cloud-based payroll system to process payroll and to onboard new team members. The onboarding process is paperless, which is good for the employee, the hotel, and the planet.

Accounts Receivable

The account receivable function is administered by the management team of the individual hotel. Every month we review the accounts receivable aging reports. When individual accounts start going unpaid for more than 60 days, a conversation will be conducted with hotel management. It is to assess the collectability and possible changes to the creditworthiness of those businesses.

Human Resources

We have developed an employee handbook that addresses most facets of issues employees face in today’s work environment. The handbook lays out the fundamentals for fair and consistent treatment, expectations for employment, and issues in which they may have been mistreated. It also describes all team member benefits available to each employee and the levels of employment, related to each benefit. Sonmar Management stays up-to-date with each state’s local employment laws, including worker’s compensation, unemployment, paid time off, minimum wages, and any other state specific laws. 

Hotel Receivership

We take immediate control of the asset, verify cash balances, and inventories on hand. Our team assesses human resources, current, and future employee needs. We implement accounting procedures and cost controls to provide the court and the lender with accurate and timely financial reports.

Comprehensive Plan to Stabilize Your Business

We create a comprehensive business and marketing strategy to boost the performance of the asset. With our plan, the lender can dispose of the asset in the shortest period at the highest market price available.

Construction

Sonmar Management has its in-house construction department called Sonmar Construction. We are experts in hotel and apartment construction. With a combined construction experience of 50 years, we have built over 60 hotels. Our experienced project managers have extensive hotel construction knowledge of all types of building structures.

Collaborative Approach to Work

All of our project managers are involved in every project. They spend much time upfront with the various subcontractors to minimize uncertainties and questions regarding the blueprints and brand specifications.
